What better way to wind down summer than with some quality sun & surf time with your bestie? Soaking in the salty air between surf sessions for a little girl-time on the sand is a great way to connect with friends and stay active in the process. I’ve been surfing for years but each time I paddle out and take on the sea it’s a new and exciting experience. But it’s even more fun when a buddy can join for one of my favorite activities of the season. Plus, it can be super intimidating to jump into a roaring ocean with just a board and a bikini, so having friends by my side makes all the difference.

You can get a full body workout targeting arms, abs and legs with all the paddling and balancing techniques involved in catching a wave. And, if you’re not ready to hop in the water, you can do some moves on the sand with my Stationary Surf Workout that will help prep you for when you’re ready to hit the waves.

These stationary surf moves moves will keep you smiling while you sweat without stepping foot in the ocean!

PADDLE OUT
Targets core, quads and love handles
Standup feet a little wider than hip distance apart, bend knees into a mid squat and keep core tight. Then keeping your waist centered, alternate arms crossing left to right and right to left as if you were paddling through water.

PLANK PUSH-UPS
Targets Core, Arms
This is almost like a more energetic version of a burpee. Start in a plank position do a pushup and jump up raining arms straight overhead. Then jump back to a plank. Repeat.

 HOT SAND 
Targets Core, helps with upper body strength
In a plank position start running in place brining alternating knees to chest engaging the core.

BIKINI BOTTOMS
Targets butt
Lie down on your towel, bend legs and bring feet to towel, hips distance apart and start raising butt squeezing glute muscles and keeping the back and core strong, then alternate raising each leg to intensify the move.

SUPER SAND SQUATS
Targets thighs, butt
Pop up in a side squat lung position then twist jump to switch sides back and forth alternating squats from right to left.

After all that hard work and determination in the water, there’s nothing more refreshing than the first sip of an ice cold Palm Breeze alcohol spritz with my girls and some snacks on the sand while chatting and catching up.
