Maserati MC20 Price, Specs, Interior, and Engine
The Maserati MC20 is a mid-engine super sports car with racing DNA that marks the beginning of Maserati’s new Era. It is a worthy successor to the MC 12 and is 100% made in Modena, Italy. Let’s go over its price, specs, interior, engine, and everything else you need to know.
Development
The Maserati MC20 was produced in just 24 months with involvement from the Maserati Innovation Lab engineers, Maserati Engine Lab technical specialists, and designers from the Maserati Style Center. In addition, they developed one of the world’s most advanced simulators to test the MC20 called the Virtual Vehicle Dynamics Development System. The system allowed for 97% of dynamic tests which optimized development times. Furthermore, fine-tuning took place with exhaustive track and road test-driving sessions.
Nettuno Engine & Specs
The new Nettuno (Italian for Neptune) engine powers the Maserati MC20 and it is the first in-house Maserati produced engine in over 20 years. Its a 90-degree twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 producing 630 horsepower and 538 lb-ft of torque. In addition, it’s design borrows from Formula 1 race cars, it uses Maserati Twin Combustion (MTC) technology, and it has a low center of gravity.
Also, the Nettuno engine is mated with an 8-speed automatic transmission. As a result the MC20 has some impressive specs. For instance, it can achieve a 0-60 mph time of 2.9 seconds and a 0-124 mph time of 8.8 seconds. Lastly, it can achieve a top speed of over 200 mph.
Lightweight
The Maserati MC20 is an extremely lightweight car that weighs just 3,240 lbs. Furthermore, Maserati claims the MC20 has a best-in-class weight-to-power ratio of 5.1 lbs per horsepower. It can achieve these specs thanks to having a carbon-fiber monocoque and the use aluminum with other lightweight materials.
Design & Aerodynamics
Aerodynamics for the Maserati MC20 were designed and tested through over two thousand man-hours in the Dallara Wind Tunnel and more than a thousand CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) simulators. As a result, the MC20 has an elegant and sleek design. Thanks to the extensive wind tunnel testing, it produces excellent downforce and just features a discreet rear spoiler. There is no huge wing or other aggressive aero parts to distract from its beauty.
Electric MC20
A faster all electric version of the Maserati MC20 will arrive in 2022. It will have multiple motors powering the front and rear. Therefore, it will be all-wheel drive unlike the V6 model which is rear-wheel drive. Also, they claim it will have a range of about 240 miles and will be able to achieve a 0-60 mph time of 2.6 seconds which is 0.3 quicker than the V6 model. As of right now there is no word on a potential price for the electric MC20.
MC20 Convertible
We can probably expect a Maserati MC20 convertible to debut some time next year with the Nettuno engine and similar specs. Further down the line there will likely be an electric MC20 convertible as well. The convertible variants will also likely carry a higher starting price.
Interior
The interior of the Maserati MC20 features a driver-oriented design. For example, the driver is always central with the interior having simple forms, few sharp edges, and minimal distractions. There are two 10-inch screens: one for the cockpit and the other for the Maserati Touch Control Plus infotainment system.
Simplicity is also a keynote of the interior. For instance, the carbon-fiber clad center console just has a few features: the wireless smartphone charger, the driving mode selector (GT, Wet, Sport, Corsa, and ESC Off), two speed selection buttons, power window controls, Multimedia system controls, and a storage compartment under the armrest. All other buttons are on the steering wheel including the ignition button on the left and the launch control button on the right.
Furthermore, the MC20 features the Maserati Connect Program. The range of services includes connected navigation, Alexa, and WiFi hotspot. You can manage all apps through the Maserati Connect smartphone app or smartwatch app.

Maserati has developed six new colors for the MC20 that will be available at launch: Bianco Audace, Giallo Genio, Rosso Vincente, Blu Infinito, Nero Enigma, and Grigio Mistero. Each color was conceived, designed and developed exclusively for the MC20.
