NBA Fans React To News Of Ja Morant Entering Counseling Program After Off-Court Issues

The world has been flipped upside down for Memphis Grizzlies superstar Ja Morant in the last few months.

Morant was flying high following the 2021-22 NBA season.

He’d elevated his game to All-Star and MVP-contender level. The Grizzlies built an NBA title contender for years to come. And Morant was one of the brightest young stars the NBA had to offer.

Since that point, however, things have been a bit rocky.

Morant’s strong play continued as did that of Memphis. But it’s away from the court where Morant has struggled. He was allegedly involved in a physical altercation with a high school basketball player. His entourage was banned from arenas after allegedly threatening Indiana Pacers security team members. And Morant himself was suspended by the Grizzlies after waving a gun on camera at a strip club.

The series of incidents led Powerade to distance itself from the Grizzlies star. But Morant isn’t just sitting around hoping things change. According to reports, he’s taking the necessary steps to sort things out.

Ja Morant Checks Into Florida Counseling Facilitiy

Memphis initially announced that Morant would be away from the team for a pair of road games. But that number has since grown and ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski and Tim McMahon have since reported that Morant checked into a counseling program in Florida.

“Memphis Grizzlies guard Ja Morant has entered a counseling program in Florida and remains without a timetable on a return to the NBA season, sources told ESPN on Monday.

Morant has been seeking assistance for what he described in a statement as a need “to get help and work on learning better methods of dealing with stress and my overall well-being,” which has taken him out of Memphis on a leave from the team, sources said.” – via ESPN

Fans quickly rushed to show their support for Morant, who is just 23 years old.

Though others were less supportive.

Only Morant knows whether he truly needs the help. But it’s good to see he’s willing to take the necessary steps if that is in fact the case.
