Postseason Action Monday Night

(Normal, IL) – There are two big postseason games tonight for the Missouri Valley and Ohio Valley Conference fans. Two teams and two tournaments tipping at exactly the same time, will stretch your attention span.

Central Florida @ Illinois State – 6 pm – ESPN

The Redbirds put their undefeated home record (16-0) on the line in second round action of the National Invitation Tournament. ISU (28-6) defeated UC Irvine to reach the second round and they play a Central Florida team that is every bit their equal on the defensive end.

Illinois State is fifth nationally in defensive field goal percentage (.378) and the Knighs (22-11) are number on in that category at .364. UCF’s defense is backed by Tacko Fall, the AAC ‘Defensive Player of the Year’. The 7’6 center has blocked a Knights’ record 84 shots this season.

The winner of Monday’s game takes on the winner of the Ilinois-Boise State contest.

UT Martin @ Campbell @ 6 pm – Facebook Live

UT Martin continues its postseason journey Monday as they visit the Campbel Camels. The Skyhawks (22-12) have won five Collegeinsider.com Postseason Tournament games the past three years. First year coach Anthony Stewart’s team has won four of their last five games, including their CIT opening round win over UNC Asheville.

Senior guard Jacolby Mobley had a career night in the win over Asheville, scoring 29 points, while tying a career best six rebounds.

Campbell (18-17) plays in the Big South Conference and they are playing their best basketball of the season. Coach Kevin McGeehan’s team has won five of their last six games and the Camels rely on the nation’s third leading scorer Chris Clemons (25.0 points per game).
