Comedian D.L. Hughley checked Wyclef Jean after he brought light to his detainment earlier this week when he was mistaken for a robbery suspect.
As previously reported, The Fugees MC was handcuffed by Los Angeles authorities during an early Tuesday search for an armed robbery suspect. Not pleased with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department mixup, The Fugees rhymer hit up Twitter and posted about the incident saying,
I was asked by the police to Put my hands up. Then I was told do not move. I was instantly hand cuffed before being asked to identify myself

Nor was I told why I was being cuffed. In the process I said my name and told them they have wrong person.

They proceeded to ignore me and I was treated like a criminal until other police showed up and pointed out they had wrong person.

I am sure no father wants his sons or daughters to see him in Handcuffs especially if he is innocent.

As some one who has law enforcers in my family, I was appalled by this behavior of the LAPD.

Bringing more light to his ordeal that other Black men face everyday, Wyclef also called for a full investigation of the Los Angels Police Department and L.A. Sheriff’s Department for racial profiling. Appearing on ABC’s Good Morning America on Wednesday (March 22, he said,
“The minute that I got out the car, I’m automatically rushed. When I’m rushed, guns are drawn (which is the part that you don’t see),” the former Fugee told ABC’s Robin Roberts. “Then I’m taken to the back of the police car with handcuffs…The racial profile point I want to make is basically that I was targeted as a Black man.
The way that the cops rushed me [and] the conversation I was having with them, it was a silent and a deaf conversation…I got a chance to see what happens when a citizen verses a police firsthand. And I was scared for my life.”
Now the problem with all of this is just several months ago, Wyclef had the nerve to Tweet #AllLivesMatter while the country had a spotlight on unarmed Black people being murdered and shot by the police and basically seemed to tak a stand against the #BlackLivesMatter movement.
In a case of karma, D.L. Hughley kept it real and questioned Wyclef’s stance since he now fit the description. Check out his Tweets below as D.L. championed for the brothers and sisters really gone till November.
“I’ve never seen anyone go to jail for talking to little….even when you tell the truth”- @RealDLHughley
