Dutch Kings Day 2024

NACAC University Fair in Vancouver

 

Saturday, April 27th (2024)

  • Vancouver NACAC National College Fair – a free event for high school students, university students and their families at the Vancouver Convention Centre. It features representatives from over 100 post-secondary schools from North America and abroad.
  • Kings Day 2024 – Koningsdag is a community event celebrating the culture of Holland and the Dutch king’s birthday. Free activities happen at the Pipe Shop and Shipbuilders’ Square in North Vancouver from 11:00 am until 4:00 pm.
  • Coquitlam Community Fest – a food truck event with live entertainment, an artisan market and other activities at Town Centre Park.
  • Surrey’s Party for the Planet – a family-friendly Earth Day event outside Surrey City Hall.
  • The Sky’s No Limit – a free event at the Abbotsford Airport that showcases the aerospace, aviation and defense industries. The event’s focus is on girls and young women interested in careers in these fields. Anyone, however, can attend.
  • Heritage Harbour at the Maritime Museum – you can wander around on the docks and admire the boats in front of the Vancouver Maritime Museum for free. Also, if you want to go inside the museum, use the promo code BESTVANCOUVER when purchasing your tickets online to save 25%.
  • Engine 374 Pavilion – an indoor train museum with a real locomotive and free admission at the Roundhouse in Yaletown.
  • Entertainment Coupon Venues – members in the coupon program can get 2-for-1 admission at dozens of places for $4.99 (US) per month. When we last checked attractions included places like the BC Sports Hall of Fame, Canadian Museum of Flight, Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Garden, Gulf of Georgia Cannery, H.R. MacMillan Space Centre, Kilby Historic Site, Sandpiper Golf Resort, Vancouver Police Museum, West Coast Railway Heritage Museum, Westwood Plateau Golf and other fun venues (although exact details may vary).
  • Lower Mainland Parks – on days with good weather, many of the region’s top parks are the best places to be! Other great areas to enjoy include Best Places to Walk, Jog and Cycle.

Saturday Markets

  • Riley Park Farmers Market – at Nat Bailey Stadium and Riley Park between 10:00 am and 2:00 pm.
  • Squamish Farmers Market – between 10:00 am and 3:00 pm in Squamish.
  • Vancouver Flea Market – an indoor flea market at 703 Terminal Avenue in Vancouver. Admission ranges from $2 to $4 depending on the day’s event, so it’s not free, but it is pretty cheap.

  • Cloverdale Flea Market – between 6:00 am and 3:00 pm at Surrey’s Cloverdale Fairgrounds. Admission is $1.50, but free for kids ages 12 and under.

  • Brahm’s Tam Drum Circle – an informal drumming event at Third Beach in Stanley Park from early evening until sunset (but only on sunny days). A few people arrive with their drums and many more just show up for the fun!
