For the second-straight week, Colgate first-year goalkeeper Kelly Chiavaro has been honored as the Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Week, as announced by the league Monday afternoon.
Chiavaro tallied seven saves in Colgate’s big 2-1 win at LSU Sunday. The victory marked the Raiders’ first-ever win against an SEC team.
Three of Chiavaro’s saves came in the final 16 minutes of action after Colgate took a 2-1 lead as she helped preserve the advantage to keep the Raiders unbeaten this season.
The Blainville, Quebec native currently leads the Patriot League and ranks 20th in all of Division I with an average of 7.67 saves per game.
First-year Abby Sotomayor earned honorable mention recognition for the league’s Offensive Player of the Week award. Sotomayor scored the game-winning goal in the 74th minute at LSU.
Chiavaro and the Raiders return home Thursday when Colgate welcomes Fairleigh Dickinson to Beyer-Small ’76 Field for a 7 p.m. contest.
