Former Riverside Middle School Principal Joel Wood was recently named the human resource director for San Benito CISD.
The position was created 10 years after the HR directorship was vacated by current superintendent Antonio G. Limón.
Wood’s annual salary will be $90,000, an increase from his $80,000 salary as a middle school principal.
According to Limón, eight individuals were interviewed “and the recommendation that went to the board was for Mr. Joel Wood.”
Limón is under a two-year agreement with the district to serve as assistant superintendent of human resources once a new superintendent is hired this year.
As director of human resources, Wood will report directly to Limón. However, the superintendent also indicated that he may retire in the near future.
“He’s under the administrator’s contract, which is the same contract he was under as principal,” Limon said of Wood, explaining that most principals are under a two-year contract. “His contract will just continue.”
