Hilton Honors has announced its latest status match program for those looking to earn Hilton Gold or Hilton Diamond status. For comparison, we recently shared how Marriott Bonvoy has a new status challenge to earn Marriott Gold or Platinum Elite status.

For Hilton’s status match, If you have elite status with Marriott Bonvoy, IHG Rewards Club, World of Hyatt, Best Western Rewards, Choice Privileges, Le Club Accor Hotels, Radisson Rewards or Wyndham Rewards, you’ll be eligible to sign up for this match, which will grant you Hilton Honors Gold Status for 90 days, and then a reduced number of nights to stay during those three months to maintain the status.

Request elite status and experience how Hilton Honors Gold Members travel for the next 90 days. If you stay enough during your trial period, you’ll get to keep Gold status or fast track to Diamond!

  • Match to Gold: Stay 10 nights within your 90 day trial period to keep Gold status through March 31, 2022.
  • Upgrade to Diamond: Stay 18 nights within your 90 day trial period and we’ll upgrade your status to Diamond through March 31, 2022.

Allow 5 -7 business days for Hilton Honors to process your request. The 90 day status match trial period starts once approved. Only members who have not previously completed a status match challenge are eligible. Reward stays do not count toward achieving the status match requirements.

It’s great to see Hiton Honors offer a status challenge and to give Hilton Gold status upfront. However, elite benefits at the gold level are pretty lackluster so I wouldn’t be too thrilled just to receive gold.

Hilton Diamond offers more lucrative benefits, but will take a commitment of 18 nights in 90 days to earn this status. Keep in mind you can earn Hilton Diamond automatically with the Hilton Honors American Express Aspire Card, making it the easiest of the big hotel chains to earn top tier status.

Personally, I feel Marriott Platinum offers more benefits over Hilton Diamond so if I was looking to complete a challenge between the two, I’d opt for that. You can read about Embarking on the Marriott Bonvoy Platinum Challenge, which requires 16 nights in 90 days vs. 18 nights with Hilton.
