Starting today customers on Southwest WiFi-enabled aircraft will be able to listen to free streaming music from their personal devices with a new partnership with Beats Music. Southwest Airlines says customers do not have to purchase WiFi to listen to music as they are offering a ‘sneak peek’ of Beats Music (listen to three songs) or provide their email address to listen all flight long. Free live TV from Dish is also included, as well as southwest.com and flight tracking information is all complimentary on Southwest Airlines flights equipped with WiFi.
According to Southwest, to access free Beats Music:
- Customers must access the Beats Music page within the Inflight Entertainment Portal.
- Customers will be invited to listen to three songs.
- Once the Customer has listened to three songs, they will be prompted to provide Beats Music with their email address, which will then grant them access to the entire library of 3,000 songs.
- Customers with existing Beats Music accounts will be able to log into their accounts and will not be prompted to input any further information; however, they will only be able to access the 3,000 songs stored locally.
Bottom Line:
Southwest has really jumped on the bandwagon with it’s free streaming TV and now it’s free streaming music. Full access to the internet is $8 for one device, good all day, however, heavy internet users complain that Southwest WiFi is pitifully slow.
