Muldrow, Oklahoma to Crown Point Resort – Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas, 10/11/2013
OCTOBER 11, 2013 (Friday)
The weather has been beautiful. Hope it continues. We got up a little earlier than normal for us and just visited with Uncle Claude and Aunt Gail. Sure gonna miss them and will pray for their good health.
We left around noon and headed to Van Buren, Arkansas to the closest Braum’s. Uncle Claude and Aunt Gail had told us where it was. Michael and I had the chicken, walnut, apple salad. Was wonderful. Lexi had some kind of hamburger. Lexi had a shake and I had a shake, Michael had water. Everything was good. Michael was also excited because the store in Braum’s had dried cherries, which he swears helps his gout. Uncle Claude had told him about eating cherries for gout.
After leaving Van Buren, we didn’t stop again for awhile until we found a WalMart. Michael needed to get a prescription filled so we were at the Walmart for about half an hour. The drive to Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas was long but beautiful. The roads were really curvy and steep at some places. Quite stunning at some points in the road.
Off the beaten path but a lovely resort. It looks like they have quite a few things to do here – water aerobics and such. Checking into the resort, a nice man told us about the week’s activities and about the restaurant. The check in was quick and easy. They have an indoor pool and a lot of other things we’ll explore more tomorrow or during the week.
Our unit is lovely. On the second floor overlooking the lake. Has a lovely deck that we can sit out and enjoy. The internet here is good, which we were worried about, and the best part is they have a washer/dryer in a one bedroom. Yahoo. Love it. The bedroom is huge and there’s a jacuzzi bathtub with a separate shower. Huge unit. Gonna be a fun week.
After exploring the unit, we walked up to the local restaurant and had dinner. Michael and I had the pot roast dinner with mashed potatoes and garlic bread, along with a salad. Lexi had a pizza. After dinner we got to talking to some fun people at nearby tables. Was interesting to hear their stories and where they’ve been and how they do it. One couple has traveled 48 states in their Corvette. How fun is that.
We are now in our room, tired. That was our day. Hope yours was wonderful!
