KOPA Challenge Cup Final
Anorthosis 0 Omonia 1
The finale of the season the KOPA challenge cup final was definitely that, and it started full of promise with attacks galore from both sides. But both teams defences and especially the two goalkeepers keeping the attackers at bay.
Omonia were commanding with many attacks starting from the right with Lawrence. Impressive for Omonia were Alex, Rakim, Bradley and Steph.
Anorthosis were more dangerous in attack Danny Couldridge forever dangerous and Alex Roussis coming close twice. It was difficult to pick an outstanding player in Anorthosis they all raised their game and we’re tremendous. The first half was goalless but in the second half it was not long before Omonia took the lead when a Harry Vazanias corner was knocked on by Lawrence Rispoli for Spencer Stylianou to tap into the back of the net.
Omonia pushed for a second goal but Anorthosis were a constant threat yet Omonia held out to be eventual cup winners to add to this year’s trophy tally of Division one cup and seven a side trophy and capping a great season for the Greens their fans their players and of course manager and coach Dino Ippocratous and Tony Ponnou.
Anorthosis finished strong this season and their manager Mario Koureas must be pleased with their progress.
The cup was presented by the KOPA League General Secretary Michael Yiakoumi.
