Demonic: 2000 Honda S 2000
A Honda on Mint? If you think we just went off the rails think again. We spotted one last week at Lime Rock Park and took a second look. Not because it is insanely gorgeous but because it looked like a really nice, complete package. Just look at the stats. It has 240 hp, a 9,000 rpm redline, rifle-bolt 6-speed, crazy cool dash, and a big red start button. Throw in a power top, A/C and Honda’s legendary build quality and I think you might see the light. According to our friends at Jalopnik, who called it a future classic, since it’s demise, nothing really has replaced it. We featured this one because it had a nice story and that made it seem like a much-loved car, with 2 adult owners. No, this wasn’t someones drifter. Over the years it has accumulated only 23,900 miles. It has a few nice options like a titanium shift knob and it is clad in New Formula Red paint with black leather seats. When they were new, the buff books adored this car praising its handling and demonic engine that is more happy above 7500 rpm where most sports cars wheeze. “Formula One engineers build a sports car”, is Motor Trend’s headline. We think the future is bright for the S2000. So if you are a Mint reader that might not have the patience to put up with the Prince of Darkness, Fix It Again Tony or any of the other classics, this may be your way into the classic car hobby. You’ll just have to wait awhile until the world catches up to you. The ask is $21,500 and that isn’t too far off the mark.
