{CRAFT} Egg Carton Butterflies

egg carton butterflyby Bec from Toddler Craft

We’ve made some egg carton caterpillars before but today my toddler wanted an egg carton butterfly. We were pleased with the result and my toddler has been buzzing around with it heaps. So get your craft on and start making

You will need:

  • Egg Carton – cut to length desired (I used three egg cup length)
  • Glue
  • Paint
  • Paddle pop sticks
  • Joggle eyes
  • Crepe paper
  • Pipe cleaner 2 x 2cm lengths

To Do:

  1. Paint egg carton and allow to dry (We used just one colour but you could use as many colours as you and your toddler like)
  2. Cut out wings from crepe paper. We used two different colours for the wings and cut out the top one a little smaller than the other. It is easiest if you cut it out folded over and then open them up flat and cut in half. That way the wings will be exactly the same
  3. Glue a paddle pop stick along the edge between the two wings to hold them together and do the same with the 2nd lot of wings
  4. Glue a couple of paddle pop sticks to the underside of the wings to give it some support.
  5. Glue the wings onto the egg carton body
  6. Glue on joggle eyes and paint on a mouth
  7. Poke the pipe cleaner through the egg carton as antennas

Enjoy!
