È necessario condividere ideali,passioni,interessi e orientamenti politici per amarsi? I saggi dicono che “ i poli opposti si attraggono e che in amore vince chi fugge”
L’Amore, fortunatamente, non è una scienza esatta, e ancora oggi possiamo osservare delle coppie in apparenza mal assortite ma che eppure funzionano alla faccia di tutto e tutti.
Per sopravvivere all’amore e far funzionare una coppia occorre essere romantici o cinici e disillusi?
Lo spettatore se lo chiede osservando la storia di Clement(Cobery), professore di filosofia, bello,giovane, colto e allergico alle relazioni stabile e ai figli e di Jennifer (Dequenne) parrucchiera, ragazza madre, amante del karaoke, fan di Jennifer Aniston e romantica tout court.
Due persone agli antipodi che probabilmente non si sarebbe mai incontrate se il destino non avesse deciso per loro spendendo Clement ad insegnare filosofia per un anno ad Arras piccola cittadina a un ora e mezzo da Parigi. Per il giovane professore parigino fino al midollo è come scontare una pena alla Silvio Pellico, ma l’incontro fortuito con Jennifer cambia la sua storia. Nasce tra un loro un alchimia non solo fisica ma soprattutto di anime seppure cosi diverse, in qualche modo completandosi a vicenda. Iniziano così una relazione fatta di letture, di passione e di confronti serrati su cosa sia l’amore e vivere una relazione. Due modi di pensare, di amare e di relazionarsi si confrontano in maniera semplice e diretta per cui allo spettatore è difficile prendere posizione. Si può tifare per l’ingenua e romantica Jennifer oppure prendere atto che i sentimenti sono un prodotto comunque a scadenza e quindi fare nostri i dubbi nichilisti di Clement.
Una commedia sull’amore che evita di cadere in sciocchi e scontati sentimentalismi e piuttosto con un testo asciutto, snello e ricco di spunti invita lo spettatore a riflettere sulle dinamiche della coppia e su quali e quanti compromessi bisogna compiere per far funzionare un rapporto. L’autore ci mostra due differenti modi d’approcciare l’amore e di manifestarlo senza prendere le parti di nessuno evidenziandone però di entrambi pregi e difetti. Sembra di ascoltare e vedere la messa in scena di un saggio amoroso con tempi e modi teatrali e ciò penalizza il film rendendolo un po’ compassato e lento e non sempre frizzante come dovrebbe essere una commedia sull’amore.
La regia è pulita, lineare, attenta a far risaltare le qualità artistiche e interpretative della coppia che si rivela talentuosa, affiatata e credibile negli dialoghi, negli sguardi e soprattutto nel mostrare i differenti sentimenti dei due personaggi.
Il finale in qualche modo contro corrente e malinconico, conferma che l’amore può cambiare un individuo, ma a volte non è sufficiente per vivere felici e contenti.

You need to share ideals, passions, interests and political orientations to love each other? The sages say that “the opposite poles attract each other and that love conquers those fleeing”
Love, fortunately, is not an exact science, and even today we can observe couples seemingly mismatched but yet work in the face of all odds.
To survive, to love and to work a couple must be romantic or cynical and disillusioned?
The viewer asks if observing the history of Clement (Cobery), professor of philosophy, beautiful, young, educated and allergic to stable relationships and children and Jennifer (Dequenne) hairdresser, single mother, lover of karaoke fan of Jennifer Aniston and romantic tout court.
Two people at the antipodes that probably never would have met if fate had not decided for them by spending Clement teaching philosophy for a year at Arras small town an hour and a half from Paris. To the young professor Parisian to the core is like to serve a sentence Silvio Pellico, but the chance meeting with Jennifer changes his story. Born between them an alchemy not only physical but most of souls though so different, somehow complementing each other. Thus begins a relationship made up of readings, passion and respect tightened on what love and live a report. Two ways of thinking, to love and to relate are compared in a simple and direct that the viewer is difficult to take a stand. You can cheer for the naive and romantic Jennifer or take note that the feelings are still a product to maturity and then our doubts nihilists of Clement.
A comedy about love that avoids falling into silly and obvious sentimentality and with a text rather dry, lean and full of ideas invites the viewer to reflect on the dynamics of the couple and of which and how many compromises you have to make to run a report. The author shows us two different ways of approaching the love and manifest it without taking sides but no highlighting both strengths and weaknesses. We seem to hear and see the staging of an essay with the time and manner of love theater and this penalizes the film making it a bit ‘stiff and slow and not always as hot as it should be a comedy about love.
The direction is clear, straightforward, careful to bring out the artistic qualities and interpretation of the couple reveals talented, close and credible in the dialogues, in looks and especially in showing the different feelings of the two characters.
The final somewhat against the tide and melancholy, confirms that love can change a person, but sometimes it is not enough to live happily.
