A vibrator was among the exhibits produced yesterday in the murder trial of a German tourist suspected to have killed his Kenyan wife and stayed with the body for four days.
The sex toy was recovered inside the decomposed body of the deceased private parts according to a post mortem report by a government pathologist.
The exhibits including blood stained clothes were produced yesterday during the trial of Michael Rubck charged with the murder of Esther Igoki.
Rubck denied killing his newlywed wife at their home in Vescon Bamburi estate on December 8, 2009. The report by the pathologist indicated she was strangled to death.
The report further estimated the death to have occurred five days before the body was taken to the mortuary. CID detective Laban Chiluyi, who testified yesterday as the case investigating officer, said he took over the case from the regular police who had secured the crime scene.
Chiluyi said the deceased was covered partially but that he could see her face was rotten and had turned dark. “I was called to the scene and found officers had taken necessary action to preserve it,” he said.
Chiluyi produced a kitchen knife he alleged the accused attempted to commit suicide with after police officers arrived at his house to check on foul smell coming from his bedroom window.
“I went to the hospital to interrogate the accused at the hospital but found him unconscious. He had two deep chest wounds after he attempted to take his life,” said the witness.
The court heard that the accused attempted to take his life again with a hospital scissors after he regained conscious and had to be handcuffed.
State counsel Jami Yamina applied for an adjournment to recall the state psychiatrist after the defense said the psychiatrist had produced two conflicting reports.
The arresting officer is also expected to testify at the next hearing where the State will conclude with its witness. Resident judge Maureen Odero set the hearing date to July 11.-the-star.co.ke
