Voting Now Open for Players’ Choice Horror Game Award Category for The Horror Game Awards 2023

Published

on

The Horror Game Awards 2023 have opened up voting for the last category for this year’s show: the Players’ Choice Horror Game Award. Fans can choose from a huge swath of titles released in the past year, from big names to the indies, with the 30 most popular nominations moving on to the first round of voting in October.

The nomination process for the Players’ Choice Award runs from now until September 29th. Click here to see the list of nominees.

First kicking off in 2022, The Horror Game Awards is the brainchild of YouTuber Phil Dickens aka AKblackandred and Will Penkeyman of Resident Evil Central. The aim of The Horror Game Awards is simple: to celebrate horror as one of the best genres in video games, and to recognize the year’s greatest horror games alongside the developers who make them.

Each member of the jury gets to nominate one game for each category they are a part of, with this year having a total of ten categories. Those nominations then go out to a public vote in early December, with the top three comprising the finalists for that category. The jury then picks a winner from the finalists through a preference vote.

The Horror Game Awards 2023 will air on December 16, live on YouTube.

Meanwhile, the second episode of the “Talking Terror” podcast has landed. This week, Phil Dickens and Will Penkeyman talk with James and Nathan from Malformation Games in regards to their upcoming retro Survival Horror title, Ground Zero.

‘Crow Country’ Adds New Difficulty Mode; Soundtrack Available Now

Published

Crow Country players have not only received news that the game’s soundtrack composed by Ockeroid is available now for them to purchase or stream, but also that they’ve received a free update to the game that adds a new harder difficulty to complement the Exploration Mode that’s already available to players.

After “many, MANY requests”, the 26-track soundtrack is available over on Ockeroid’s Bandcamp page, offering lossy and lossless versions for you audiophiles.

Meanwhile, another highly requested feature for Crow Country was a new difficulty mode. SFB Games has delivered with the new ‘MURDER OF CROWS’ mode, which is available now as a free update. In this new mode, which you can unlock by completing Hard Mode, resources are more limited, and enemies are more aggressive. To make things even more difficult, you can’t run while seriously hurt. There are also new rank requirements.

In addition to the new difficulty, the devs have also included additional changes:

  • Better full-screen handling
  • Small bugfixes
  • Small typo fixes

In this new horror game inspired by classics from the original PlayStation, the year is 1990 and you are Mara Forest, a young woman determined to understand why the mysterious Edward Crow closed his famed amusement park and how exactly he vanished.

Crow Country is available now on PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, and the Xbox Series. And if you haven’t already, check out Aaron’s review.
