Magnolia May Take Ti West’s ‘Sacrament’!

One of the bigger horror successes out of TIFF this year was The Sacrament, the Eli Roth-produced found-footage horror from director Ti West (The House of the Devil, The Innkeepers, V/H/S). Now, per Deadline, it appears that Magnolia may be picking up the film. This probably means you’ll be able to see it on VOD this year with a limited theatrical release to follow.

Starring Joe Swanberg (V/H/S, You’re Next, A Horrible Way To Die), AJ Bowen (You’re Next, A Horrible Way To Die, The House of the Devil, The Signal), Kentucker Audley (V/H/S), Amy Seimetz (You’re Next, A Horrible Way to Die, Tiny Furniture) and Gene Jones (No Country for Old Men), the film follows two journalists who are documenting a man’s search for his missing sister find themselves on the run after the locate the woman in a rural cult who is preparing for a mass suicide.

‘Alien: Romulus’ Rated “R” for “Bloody Violent Content”

Following yesterday’s official trailer release, the MPA rating for director Fede Alvarez’s (Evil Dead, Don’t BreatheAlien: Romulus has arrived. No surprise here, but it’s rated “R.”

“Bloody violent content and language.”

There was a time when Alien and Predator fans were worried about Disney sanitizing both franchises when they got their hands on them. Thankfully, it’s clear that’s not happening.

In Romulus, “While scavenging the deep ends of a derelict space station, a group of young space colonizers come face to face with the most terrifying life form in the universe.”

Cailee Spaeny (The Craft: LegacyPacific Rim Uprisingleads the cast alongside Isabela Merced, David Jonsson, Archie Renaux, Spike Fearn and Aileen Wu.

Fede Alvarez co-wrote the script with Rodo Sayagues (Evil Dead). Ridley Scott is on board as producer for the film, the first movie in the franchise to be released by Disney.

Alien: Romulus is based on characters created by Dan O’Bannon and Ronald Shusett.
