Burger King booked for serving burger with ‘glass pieces’

Burger King, an outlet of a well-known global fast food chain was registered in an FIR filed by a 31-year old Pune man, Sajid Pathan, after he got his throat chocked because of the glass shards found in his burger, said a police official.

The man got hospitalised after he consumed the glass pieces served to him in a burger at a Burger King outlet on Fergusson College Road.  The staff members of the restaurant have been booked in the offence.

Deccan Gymkhana Police official said, “According to the complainant, he ordered burgers, fries and cold drinks and while having a bite, he suddenly felt something in the throat and also experienced a sharp pain.”

After he complained of the matter, he was immediately rushed to the hospital. Some part of the glass piece was learned to have gone inside his stomach for which he is undergoing treatment.

The official said, “We have registered a case against the Burger King’s area manager, store manager and supervisor under Indian Penal Code Sections 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others)and 34 (common intention).”

A probe in the matter is underway.
