Two arms smugglers arrested with arms and ammunitions: Prayagraj

Two arms smugglers on Wednesday were arrested in Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh by a team of Special Task Force (STF). The STF recovered seven .32 bore pistols, one .38 bore revolver, and seven live cartridges from their possession.

The accused identified as Rajendra and Sambhu are residents of Naini and have told the police that they are a gang of six people, the police said. The accused have a shop of building material. Rajendra also takes contracts for disilting work of canals.

They purchased the arms from a supplier in Madhya Pradesh. A pistol costing them Rs 8,000 was sold for over Rs 25,000 while a revolver costing them up to Rs 7,000 was sold in over Rs 15, 000 a piece, the police said.

As per the STF the accused sold arms through their associates and were arrested when the distributors came to receive the assignment.
