Nilgiris Closes its doors to visitors till 30th April.

Tourists who come to the Nilgiris for a vacation will be barred from entering the district. The district boundaries, according to the latest news, will not be locked.

Botanical and rose gardens, Mudumalai Tiger Reserve, Ooy Lake, and the Sim’s Park in Coonoor are among the tourist attractions that will be closed to tourists until April 30 according to recent government orders.

Those visiting the hilly spot for medical purposes, trade, or other important services, according to Nilgiris Collector J Innocent Divya, will be able to enter only after submitting relevant documents.

Also, special teams will be stationed at border checkpoints to verify the reason for the visitors’ visit to the district. The movement of basic resources will, according to reports, be permitted.

In order to operate their units, processing industries in the district would need special permission from the district administration. According to reports, their employees and workers will also need special identification cards for the purpose.

For those coming from other districts, the e-registration process will proceed as normal. So far, at least 105434 people in the Nilgiris have been vaccinated against Covid-19, out of a total population of 7.30 lakh. A total of 397,000 RT-PCR tests have been performed in the hill district to date.

Tourist traffic to the area, however, has decreased in the last two days, according to records.
