IAF transported 450 tonnes of medical equipment, other supplies till date, informs Defence Ministry

The Union Defence Ministry, on Monday,, April 20, informed that 450 tonnes of medical equipment and other essential supplies have been transported by the Indian Air Force till date amid the nationwide Coronavirus lockdown put in place since March 25 to contain the spread of the novel Coronavirus or COVID-19. The material has been lifted to several locations in 16 states and Union Territories (UTs) of Jammu and Kashmir, Puducherry and Ladakh.

In a press release issued by the Union Defence Ministry, it stated, “The IAF has undertaken transportation of medical supplies including PPE (personal protective equipment), testing kits, sanitisation material and associated equipment along with the movement by air of medical personnel.”

It is to be noted that the Coronavirus cases are keeping a rise in the country with more than 17,600 people reported positive so far with 550 deaths in the country.
