In a big victory for the Walton family, the Arkansas Supreme Court overturned a lower court ruling and will allow the state to take over the Little Rock school district. Of 48 schools in the district, six have been labeled “failing” by the state. Nonetheless, the state will oust the elected board and run all the schools.
A former Little Rock school board member, Jim Ross, said of the ruling:
“The Supreme Court of Arkansas is the best court Walton money can buy, so it’s no surprise. … We’re pretending that there’s not a big elephant sitting in the middle of this conversation, which is that the Waltons want to fundamentally destroy traditional public schools. And our state Board of Education is leading in that.
“I’m sure on some level they’re all altruistic people who think they’re doing the right thing, but at the end of the day they’re driven by profit, not people,” Ross said. “They’re driven by the idea that white, educated elites should be in charge, and that black people in our city are irrational, have political agendas, are enslaved to John Walker, whatever it is … there’s a fundamental lack of commitment to democracy.”
Petrilli appears to blame poverty for declining test scores (USA Today-“Silde in U.S. Student Math Scores Puzzling”, by reporter, Greg Toppo. Since the Waltons are the center of the universe, for low worker wages, wouldn’t Sam’s offspring, perceive Fordham as back-stabbers?
“I’m sure on some level they’re all altruistic people who think they’re doing the right thing,”
I’m also sure the Devil thinks the same way, but what did God do to the Devil anyway—little or no mercy no matter what someone thinks who is behind an act of pure evil?
Ratio is scary. Of 48 schools in the district, six have been labeled “failing” by the state. Nonetheless, the state will oust the elected board and run all the schools.
Not surprising, since that has been the agenda all along.
Did you know the Obama Administration were opening 400 new charter schools in Ohio?
“Ed Penrod, board member and president of the Ohio School Boards Association made a passionate plea to the public concerning charter schools.
Penrod explained that as a result of an educational grant from the federal government under the guidance of Arne Duncan, United States Secretary of Education, a total of $71.1 million has been provided to the State of Ohio for charter schools, so now there will be an additional 400 charter schools created in Ohio from this grant.
“What is going on needs public outcry,” Penrod said. “I don’t care what our politics are – we are being put out of business. I met with the Youngstown City Board of Education three weeks ago who was in tears. The legislators came in literally in the wee early morning hours and passed House Bill 70, which has taken the Youngstown school board out of business.”
Wow. I had no idea the Obama-Kasich expansion was that big. I wonder where the schools are planned?
Ohio’s evaluation system for public schools is rigged to fail many schools in urban districts. That makes the whole district a target for unelected charter operators, many with profit-seeking as the priority.
In addition to Youngstown, the following districts are vulnerable to a district-wide takeover with charters becoming the only “choice”.and choosing students
Akron City
Canton City
Columbus City
Cleveland Municipal
Cincinnati City
Toledo City
Dayton City

Good job, School Take Over Movement’s People! Little Rock is too close to Memphis not to have the great success of ASD infect them.
Does this mean, it’s all over in Little Rock?
I wonder what Clinton thinks about this? What’s the situation in Hot Springs (Bill Clinton’s boyhood home)?
