The highly anticipated movie adapted from Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s novel: “Half of a Yellow Sun,” would be in the cinemas across Nigeria from this Friday.
Half of a Yellow Sun, which has been released in cinemas in the UK, USA, Australia and New Zealand, has been able to generate N280 million from cinema releases, in-flight right sales and online viewing right sales.
The movie is however expected to do better in the Nigerian market as the writer, producer and director are all Nigerians.
As the cinema release date of Half of a Yellow Sun for the Nigerian market draws closer, heightened expectations and excitement await the day as can be seen in several posts on social media platforms.
The movie, which was to be released earlier this year, but could not as a result of problems with the Nigeria Film and Video Censors Board, has however been approved for release and would be in cinemas from August 1.
The movie features BAFTA award winner and Oscar nominee, Chiwetel Ejiofor; BAFTA award winner, Thandie Newton; Genevieve Nnaji; O.C. Ukeje; Zack Orji; and Onyeka Onwenu.
