A former Super Eagles Head Coach, Adegboye Onigbinde, on Monday said that in spite of some achievements the country has recorded in football, it could still do better.
Onigbinde made the assertion in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Lagos.
He said: “Let me start by saying that I’m never satisfied with any level of achievement.
“Otherwise, one could easily say okay we have qualified for the World Cup, we won the Africa Cup of Nations and so, everything is perfect.
“We used to say that the sky is the limit but modern technology has proven that the sky has no limit, so our ambition should not have any limit.”
The former Eagles coach added that with proper management of talents, the country would be a force to reckon with in sports.
Onigbinde urged sports administrators to do the needful toward ensuring that the country’s sportsmen and women were nurtured to world beaters.
He added: “And I think our major problem is development.
“I have often said that if we utilise all the potential God has given us, we shall record good success.
“For example, in football, in fact in all sports, I can’t see any other country that should be a threat to Nigeria.
“But we are not getting our acts right and I think that’s the major problem.
“Otherwise, we have achieved, we have qualified for the World Cup finals, we won the African Cup of Nations and U-17 but I don’t believe that is the end.”
