Different take on a Milky Way photograph

For weeks leading up to a family camping trip, I was searching for anything I could to help me find the best techniques for capturing a photo of the Milky Way. There were a few elements that I really had no control over – the weather and the full-moon weekend. My plan was to wake up at 2:45 am and see if there were any clouds that would ruin my chances. I wanted a backup plan, so after a trip to the candy isle at our local Target store, I new that no matter what, I would photograph a Milky Way.

As luck would have it, I was able to photograph the starry Milky Way, as well as the sweet Milky Way. I’ll share my photos of the stars and the Milky Way in subsequent posts, but I hope you at least got a good laugh out of this photo of the Milky Way. 🙂

Oh, and if you live in Utah and are interested in joining me on August 9 at 10pm at the Bonneville Salt Flats rest stop to try your hand at nightscape photography, get the details and RSVP.
