How To Stop Procrastinating

Do you ever feel guilty for repeating the same bad habits?

Have you ever said, I’m never doing that again, but find yourself doing it anyway?

Are you sick and tired of making promises you cannot keep? {especially to yourself}

Yes, yes and yes!

Sometimes I get so frustrated because I keep making the same stupid mistakes over and over.

“I don’t really understand myself, for I want to do what is right, but I don’t do it. Instead, I do what I hate.” Romans 7:15 NLT

Can you relate?

Just last weekend I found myself being that nagging mom that I so desperately do not want to be! Somehow it just slipped right out of me. My daughter is almost 14 years old and well; you get the picture, enough said.

I really don’t want to keep using the excuse of “raging hormones” for me to lose my temper with my daughter and miss divine opportunities to instill meaningful values in her life.

So while I took some time to cool off after another “blow up” I reflected on how I’ve successfully implemented changes in the past and I was quite surprised with what came to mind!

Stop procrastinating and DECIDE to make a change now.

Yep, it’s really that simple!

Any time we make up our mind and DECIDE to make a change we will have success. It might not always turn out exactly how we planned, but we will begin to move forward and transformation will happen. I promise you!

For example, four years ago when I ran my very first half marathon it came down to making a decision or when I felt God calling me to a 40-day juice fast I made the decision to make the commitment.

So what do you need to decide on today?

How will making this decision impact your life one month, six months or even one year from now?

Leave a comment with your decision below. It’s time to make a change now.

  1. Once again, Linda, you have read my mind. haha! I do procrastinate about certain things. For example, I say I will eat better tomorrow or even at my next meal, because I really need to lose weight to be more healthy. Then, the next meal comes around and I procrastinate, telling myself I will eat better tomorrow. But, now, I am on a program that really is helping me, a little at a time and the program is not letting me procrastinate. 🙂

  2. Yes, making that decision, then WRITING IT DOWN with sub-goals if needed is what really moves me along to do what I say I want / wish I was doing. Sticky notes too….! I plan to speak the Word out loud DAILY, spend time with God FIRST every morning, and before I start, ask God to speak to me during this time.

    • Karen, It sounds like you know what works for you and you are READY to eagerly seek and live in the Lord. Amen, Amen, Amen!! 🙂
