A City in Motion [Weekend Watch]

June 11th, 2011

Just as  it seems like urban time-lapse videos have jumped the shark, along comes Mindrelic to proves otherwise.  This timelapse of life in Manhattan is truly amazing.  Watching it, I am reminded of one of the reasons I love cities so much: the tension between stability and dynamism.

The elements of a city, such as buildings, traffic, bridges, etc may remain relatively constant. But their appearance is ever altering as the hours, days and seasons pass and new people come and go.  Mindrelic expertly captures this continual renewal in this video.  Well worth the watch!

I recently spent a little over a month hotel hopping in Manhattan (March 12th to April 29th) shooting time lapse. These clips were pulled from over an hours worth of footage.
