Tucked in a tiny location on West 40th Street in New York, Piccolo Cafe is a gem of an eatery. One of four locations in The City, the small cafe, with just seating along the windows for 6 people at most, does a big take-out and delivery business. The day I visited there was a steady stream of people coming in and out for their pick up orders.
The tiny spot has a large menu of sweet and savoury baked goods., egg and omelette sandwiches, hot paninis, salads, pastas and Italian specialty coffees. All made daily or to order ensures whatever you order is fresh and tasty. Even thought the made to order sandwiches might make a little bit longer than a location with pre-made sandwiches, like Dean & Deluca across the street, the wait is worth it. My omelette sandwich was a hot, rich and super tasty breakfast in hand. Wrapped up in aluminum foil to stay hot and easy to eat, it’s easy to see why there seemed to be a steady stream of workers coming in from the nearby road works site, getting lunch and coffees.
All the Piccolo Cafe’s have online ordering and provide delivery to their local areas, making them a great option for office workers. The four Piccolo Cafe locations are 157 3rd Ave, 274 W 40th St , 238 Madison Ave & 313 Amsterdam Ave
