The Voice 2016 winner Alfie Arcuri will compete at music contest New Wave in Sochi, Russia, in August.
The contest usually lasts for six days. Unlike Eurovision, New Wave isn’t a singing or songwriting contest but a chance for contestants to show their artistry. However former Eurovision stars Dima Bilan, Polina Gagarina, Jamala, Tina Karol and DoReDos have all performed.
Arcuri, who competed in Eurovision: Australia Decides 2019 will perform alongside acts from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bulgaria, Georgia, Spain, Italy, Kazakhstan, Netherlands, Serbia and Russia.
His participation in Sochi in August comes despite Montaigne being unable to attend Rotterdam in May, following a decision by SBS to perform ‘Live on Tape.’

Fair enough. I hope everything will be ok.
Alfi in Russia, where you can go to the jail for gay propaganda. Very risky idea.
I asked him about this but he’s spoken with those who are familiar with the event.
