Projects for the 14th Animation Production Days (APD) can be submitted from today. The most important co-production and financing platform for international animation projects in German-speaking territories is taking place from 6–8 May 2020 in Stuttgart as part of the 27th Stuttgart International Festival of Animated Film (5–10 May 2020) and the 25th edition of FMX – Conference on Animation, Effects, Games and Immersive Media (5–8 May 2020).
APD is a curated business platform for the European and international animation industry which hosts around 170 participants each year. Animation producers from more than 20 countries introduce their film, TV series, mobile content, games, cross-media and transmedia projects in pre-scheduled, one-to-one meetings; hybrid formats mixing animation with live-action film can also take part. Each year, around 50 projects are selected from an ever-increasing number of submissions to be presented at APD. Projects that are in an early stage of development particularly profit from the detailed feedback and tips given by the numerous representatives from broadcasters, SVoD platforms, world sales agents, distributors, funding institutions and other investors who come to APD on the hunt for innovative and promising projects. Alongside the one-to-one meetings, the APD programme also features a conference and a wealth of networking events.
The online form for project submissions is now available on the APD website. Producers have until20 February 2020 to submit their projects. Representatives from broadcasters, distributors, sales agents, film and media funding institutions, publishing houses and banks can also use an online form to register for APD 2020. A reduced “early bird” rate is available until 30 January 2020.
Events Specifically for Studios and Service Producers
For production companies and studios not presenting their own projects at APD but who are looking for projects in which they can become involved as co-producers or service providers, APD has setup the “Producers for Co-Production” programme. Here, producers and service providers from the areas of animation, games, VR and VFX can meet to discuss collaborations. Registration for the Co-Producer Programme which, alongside the “Producers for Co-Production” meetings, also includes participation in the APD conference and networking events, can also be made via an online form. Further information can be found on the APD website.
Apply Now for the APD Talent Programme
For the 14th edition of APD, up-and-coming European producers again have the opportunity to apply for free participation in APD with their own project. It is our aim to bring together newcomers with established industry experts and help them take their first steps in the international market. A total of 14 talent accreditations is available. All information regarding applications can be found here.
And once again this year, one of the projects will be selected from the European “Animation Sans Frontières” talent initiative. This is now the third time that APD is cooperating with this training scheme which is supported by the Creative Europe MEDIA programme of the EU and is organised by the Animation Institute of the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg and three other Europeananimation schools.
