Thistle Port Dickson Premium Suite
Living in the Klang Valley, there isn’t any beach we can go to. I think it is safe to say the nearest place to go with a decent beach will be Port Dickson. There is this particular place in PD that we are fond of from the very first time we brought the kids over. It is Thistle. I’ve blogged about it here. We loved it so much that we thought of making this place our annual short holiday retreat so we returned here recently in July but got so disappointed at how run down it is now. They even had a private function at the pool that time and there was loud music blaring till way after midnight. It was so unbearable that I called them up to lodge a complain but nothing is being done. I private messaged their FB page still nothing happened. Then I did the inevitable. I left a rating on their FB Page that goes like this, “We had the best room possible on the highest floor, right smack in the middle facing the pool. But they had a private poolside function and the loud music goes on and on and on the entire night that our kids and I were not able to get a single wink.
We were here last year and truly enjoyed ourselves but this year the standard has dropped tremendously. The many game rooms has been reduced to only ONE and it was operational without aircond! Imagine how hot it was in there.
There are also ants in our rooms”
To my surprise, we actually received a respond from the General Manager and he invited us back to their hotel. I liased with him through email to clarify that we are not doing this for the free stay but am genuinely disappointed at the drop of quality. There is no point of us returning if we are going to face the same issues again and he assured me that they are working on making it better.
3 months later here we are, back in Thistle in their Premium Suite.
Premium Suite.
We made our booking for a premium seaview suite a month in advance and received confirmation on it but upon check-in on Saturday, we were told their seaview suites are all taken! We were given a suite facing the pool instead but okay lah, I don’t want to make a scene. I just want to have a good break with the family.
I love how spacious the suite is.
The boys had plenty of room to run in here.
Our room. The thing about having a room with pool view is the boys will be impatiently looking outside and pestering us to go for a swim eventhough we have just arrived and our luggage has not been sent to our room yet -.-
The suite comes with a generous space for a long bath and a separate shower and washroom.
Separate shower and washroom.
There are two huge mirrors; one at the sink and another at the work area.
Without delaying further, Darling brought the boys out to the pool while I stay a bit longer to take pictures :P
This is how the suite looks like from the outside. Beautiful isn’t it?
The boys having fun in the pool.
They love the slides.
Kept sliding down over and over again.
Thistle used to have complimentary drinking water at the pool for their guests but since my last stay here in July and now, we don’t see it anymore. I guess that is one benefit they have crossed out in their cost cutting measure.
The sea water is very clear much to our delight.
I’m glad to see that they have added more balls into the ball room. They’ve also replaced the aircond in the game room. Breakfast is still mediocre though but overall we are happy to see improvements.
There is still room for improvements though especially on house keeping as the rack where they keep the towels in our room is so dusty we dare not even use the towels. The toiletries looks good but the conditioner bottle was empty.
We had a good time nevertheless and even got to see fireworks from our room that night.
Wow got fireworks! Nice!
You look pretty in that dress.
I went Port Dickson in 2012 and stayed at Avillion resort. Not bad, they have a mini pet farm where kids can get to feed the animals
The suite is indeed very beautiful from the outside
Last time the hotel I stayed in Krabi has got mosquitoes, red ants and worms in the room, that is the problem with hotel room near garden
Thank you Libby. I’ve not stayed in Avilion resort before. I always chose to return to Thistle because of their beach. My kids simply love the beach and I must admit I’m a sucker for beaches too.
Over here, they have that electric mosquito repellant in our rooms.
Gotcha! Now I know. Do hotel reviews, no need to say all nice things one. In the end, get nothing! Hantam kasi dia kao kao! Hehehehehehe!!!!
Eh, that’s not how it works. We can’t simply write, it must have prove to back it all up. I have pictures to prove my claims in my email and I’m glad the GM took my constructive critism positively. We are not here to bring business down, we just want to conserve our favourite spot hoping that we will have a nice and affordable place for a short getaway for years to come.
whooooaaaa. DAT SUITE! merryn, i love love love your hair!!! <3
Whoaa!! You get a stay for free in a suite!! That’s amazing. Never can afford a suite in a hotel, I will feel it would be too costly. Nevertheless I am looking forward to stay in this hotel again.
I have never been to PD..the room is specious, how’s the food in the hotel?
wow… very nice rooms! I think I been to this resort before , a decade ago before I got married with my wife…hahaha… That time it called Guoman if I am not wrong.
You look gorgeous in that blouse! Where’s the bikini pic? heheheh
The poor GM, doing all he can to keep all guests happy.
Ayden is so cute, doing his signature pose of one finger up on each hand for a photo!
What? What are the housekeeping department doing? No dusting and replace new toiletries?? Gosh.
But the suite is lovely, comfy and spacious.
I have never been to PD before.
lovely getaway! i never stay in a premium suite before, looks great :D plentiful of area, must be expensive!
I must admit that in Malaysia, most standards are never kept long term. Many places are really beautiful and happening when it opens… but after a few years, you know lah~
