Cary, NC — The second weekend of August offers lots to do in Cary. If you like bluegrass or jazz, want to sample what could be your next favorite wine or recapture the soccer frenzy, this will be the weekend for you.

Thursday is the night for live music. At Mac’s Tavern, the Grass Cats will be putting out their sound for you to enjoy over a beer or what have you. UnVined will be continuing their live Jazz performances downstairs at the Olde Cary Commons.

Also Thursday, Triangle Wine is offering its tasting session for $10. The price includes hors d’oeuvres.

Jazz comes back early this Friday, this time at 3:30 PM. SearStone’s Winston Clubhouse is offering a performance by the Capital Jazz band along with gelato for your pleasure. The event is free.

At 5 in the afternoon, the Chatham Hill Winery is hosting its unWine-d event, featuring live music, local food trucks and discount cups of wine. It’s a great way to cool down after that long week.

The Gordon Munro Fine Art Gallery will be hosting Dan Campbell and his exhibition, entitled Art of Abstraction. The event starts at 6:30 PM and is expected to go on to 9. RSVPs are appreciated and contact information is available on the calendar.

Saturday, the Bella Rose Strides 5k returns for its third run. With registration starting at 7 am and the run itself at 8, the event offers a silent auction, kid fun run and a bounce house. All proceeds will be donated towards research and awareness of SIDS.

Also Saturday, at 6 PM, Boo Hanks and Lightnin’ Wells come to the Sertoma Amphitheater to perform the blues. Both are legends in their own right, so the experience will be well worth it. Food’s welcome but booze is not, so leave the beers at home. Dogs can stay so long as they’re kept on their leash.

At 7:30 PM, the Railhawks face off against the Tampa Bay Rowdies at the WakeMed Soccer Park. So, if you find yourself missing the World Cup experience already, this would no doubt be a welcome sight. Tickets can range between $10 and $26 and family packs are $49.
