The Drake and UNI softball teams collide this weekend to close out the regular season and both teams will be gunning for spots in the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament. The top six teams advance and Drake is currently tied for fifth with a record of 12-10. Drake coach Rich Calvert who says with two wins the Bulldogs clinch a spot no matter what anyone else does. If they don’t then they have to rely on other teams in the conference for help. He says it’s nice to control their own destiny. Both teams survived poor starts in Valley play and have roared back into contention.For the Panthers there is no room for error but they enter the weekend having won 11 of their last 13. UNI coach Christy Hebert who says the Panthers were able to turn it around. She says they started to loosen up and play better.Hebert says the Panthers enter the weekend with a ton of confidence as things have gone their way.The teams play a doubleheader on Saturday before concluding the series with a single game on Sunday.
