I edited about 7200 words and added 300 or so in about an hour this morning. I was quite lucky in that I found a rhythm and with War Child it’s not the first dit pass so I think it’s quite tidy (to the extent I can anyway), hitch is helping with the pace of this morning.
I’m still not sure if I’ll publish this story once it’s done or once some of the rest of the story is done. I’ve got time to think on it so it’s nothing I need to hurry.

I wrote 810 yesterday while editing 3698 on War Child yesterday morning before I picked up my little one. That was over about an hour and twenty minutes.
I’ve been trying to adjust my sleep patterns. Where I work a lot of early shifts I’m trying to get to bed earlier, and I’m trying to get up close to wake up on a work day on a day off. When I do that I want to get writing in that time. Sets up a good day then.
Right now I’m off to bed, early start tomorrow.

Howdy folks. I’m gonna try and get back in the habit of updating each day like I used to. Even if like today it’ll only be a brief update.
I’ve gone back into Penal Earth 2 to get it another step closer to publishing. I kept jumping between projects and realised I wasn’t rally making any progress with them because they were new and I’ve got too many that are very close to being done that should have my attention. So I’m going to keep my focus on Penal Earth 2 and War Child for the foreseeable future.
So I edited about 1400 words in about twenty minutes today.
Like I said, a brief one tonight. I’ve an early tomorrow so I’m off to bed.
A plus side to getting up early each day for work is I was up before 6am and had almost a 1000 words written on Penal Earth 2 by 7am, and then I worked through about 1300 words on War Child because the first draft of Penal Earth 2 is done!
I’m gonna stick it in a draw for a bit while I work on this next draft of War Child and then get back into it and sorted.
Work has been manic this week and hasn’t left a lot of mental capacity to write, but I’ve been poodling along with a short story and things will ease back a little next week so I can get back into Penal Earth 2.
Busy day tomorrow so I’m off to bed. Have an awesome one, folks! 🙂

Only 370 today, not even close to the 1000 I wanted. Work was non-stop today, which I don’t mind. I like a busy day because that normally means its a productive one, but boy was it knackering. I got home and just crashed.
What I did write was some good ground work for the next few scenes.
I do need to get a sleep pattern sorted out. I’m trying to transition into one where I’m getting a short nap in the afternoon and then a somewhat early night around 9pm, but with a movie on. No gaming after say 7pm. No devices after 9pm. I’m gonna try and do this on nights when I’m not at work at the next day as well, and will only deviate from this if I’m working or have a social event.
I never really appreciated how much a lack of sleep affects until the last few years. I’m more energised, more capable, and all round better in myself. I never appreciated how much it impacts mental health as well. When I’m able to get a solid amount of sleep I notice it, and my anxieties are a lot easier to manage. It’s less of a battle against myself and giving myself better tools in managing and improving both my mental health and working on growing as a person.
Okay, I feel like I’m rambling so I’m gonna log off, do the washing up and then pop a movie on to wind down.
Another slower day, but got 721 in two sittings that added up to about 45 minutes worth of writing. I’m getting well into what should be the endgame for this story.
I’m really looking forward to getting this draft done, and I can put it down for a few weeks, probably go back to War Child and then into Penal Earth 2 again. That’ll give it a little time to simmer before starting the edit, which is where I think can be quite hard work. Which is what I’ll be doing with War Child.
Right, I need to get some sleep. So I’m going to get my head down. I’d like to be touching the 1000 word mark if I can. Today was a solid effort but I know I’ve got a few gears I can climb and pick the pace up more.
A lower day than I’d have liked. I didn’t sleep too well though, insomnia really hit hard last night. So only 398 words.
I could have pushed through and tried to get some more written but I’m just wiped out. I had a few errands to run and bits and bobs to see to as well. But I wrote. This time last week I wouldn’t have even tried. So that’s a good start.
