Randolph H. James, CPA, P.A.

With over 35 years of tax and accounting experience, Randy has established himself as one of the premier CPA’s in Boca Raton. Randy attended University of Florida and graduated in 1976 with a Bachelors of Science degree in business administration. He became a Certified Public Accountant in 1979 and worked for several small and mid size CPA firms. He there found his niche in estate and trust tax work and started his own practice in 1987. He and Jack created James & Surman in 1988, after having worked together at another local CPA firm for nine years.

Randy has an extensive background in complex tax issues with individuals, estates and trusts. He is an active participant in continuing education to keep informed on the changing tax laws. In addition to individuals, estates and trusts, his practice includes numerous business entities, as well as private foundations and charitable organizations.

Randy is affiliated with numerous organizations including:

Justin R. Goldberg, CPA, P.A.

With over 10 years of tax and accounting experience, Justin is quickly emerging as one of Boca Raton’s finest CPA. Justin graduated from Florida Atlantic University with a Bachelors of Science and Masters degrees’ in accounting in 2008 and 2009, respectively. Justin became a licensed Certified Public Accountant in January 2011 and has worked since in the firm. Under Randy’s mentorship, Justin established himself as an invaluable asset to the firm and earned his title of partner. Justin brings extensive expertise in tax and financial accounting, specializing in all business needs. An excellent business adviser, Justin best serves his clients with a trove of sound, knowledgeable advise to maximize potential while mitigating compliance-related risks. Today, Justin is responsible for running the firm’s practice and operation.

Justin spends his free time with his family and friends and plays an occasional round of golf. He is a member of the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

 

Gary Saka, CPA

Gary joined James, Surman and Goldberg CPA in late 2018. He graduated from Florida Atlantic University with a Bachelors of Art in Accounting and Master’s degree in Taxation on 2013 and 2015, respectively. Gary became a licensed Certified Public Accountant in 2015 and actively attends continuing education courses. Gary brings extensive experience in tax and financial accounting, with a specialization in due diligence for mergers and acquisitions.

Gary spends his free time with family and friends, and plays basketball regularly during the week.

 

Logan Goldenberg

Logan joined James, Surman and Goldberg CPA in mid 2020. He graduated from Florida Atlantic University with a Bachelors of Art in Accounting on May 2020 and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Accounting. Logan plans to become a licensed Certified Public Accountant after completing his Master’s degree. Logan plays an integral part in the accounting and preparation of taxes for the firm. Logan is an enthusiastic team player who enjoys interacting with clients.

Logan enjoys the outdoors, boating, fishing, traveling and exploring new places. He is a member of the FAU Accounting Students Association and National Society of Leadership and Success.

 

Crystal Clark

Crystal joined James, Surman and Goldberg CPA in mid-2020. She graduated Palm Beach State College with an Associates in General Studies on 2019. Crystal plays an integral part in office management and is responsible for communicating and corresponding with clients, as well as assisting the day-to-day duties of running an office. Crystal enjoys traveling with her husband, working out, cooking and watching Netflix for leisure.

Crystal is a current Florida Notary.

 

Denise Makar
Retired

Denise has been with James, Surman and Goldberg CPA since 1993. Denise plays an integral part in office management and is responsible for the bookkeeping and payroll reporting for many of our business clients, as well as assisting some of our individual clients with bill paying and organizing their tax information. Denise has two daughters and enjoys traveling with her husband.

 

William J. (Jack) Surman, Jr., CPA
Retired

Jack attended Southern Illinois University and graduated with a Bachelors of Science degree in accounting. He became a licensed CPA in 1975 and went on to get his MBA from Florida Atlantic University in 1979. Jack began his career working at small and medium sized CPA firms before teaming up with Randy in 1988.  Jack has worked on complex tax issues with individuals, business, estates and trusts.

Jack has been happily married for over 40 years to his wife Betty, who recently retired after more than 25 years with the Florida Atlantic University Athletic Department. They attend many sporting events together and are thrilled on the direction the school has taken over the past few decades.

Jack is affiliated with many organizations including:
