WELCOME to Clear Thinking Therapy Together we can make positive change.

There is a popular misconception saying, in order to see a counsellor you must be ‘sick’, mentally ill or at ‘breaking point’ but in reality, counselling is about helping people work through challenges we all face. It’s a process of exploration, understanding and moving forward. Therapy can help you gain insight into yourself to help you work through what is and isn’t helpful.

As a counsellor, I have extensive knowledge of a whole range of issues like breakdown in relationships, low self-worth or self-esteem, stress, anxiety, relationships and work-life balance to name a few. But as well as working in general practice, I have particular knowledge and expertise in the following areas:

Grief

You don’t need to take the path of grief and loss on your own.
You can expect a supportive approach to help you through your grief. I offer you care, compassion and support as you share your experience of loss, perhaps, searching for answers or needing to learn healthy strategies to bridge from what was to how things are now and as you rediscover yourself and your life. Grief counselling offers you a space to focus on your person and celebrate what they brought to your life. Sometimes, the relationship with the person who has died was not a positive experience and often loss can bring up complex emotions. Loss can trigger a range of reactions, unique to each individual and sometimes these emotions can be confusing or upsetting. I will work with you to realise this is all normal parts of grief.
“Grief is the price we pay for love.” Queen Elizabeth II

Addiction

When the source of addiction becomes more important than anything else, it’s time to seek help.
If you’re struggling with addiction, you may be looking for support but don’t know where to start. You may have tried to control your relationship to alcohol, substances or other addictive behaviours but become frustrated when you keep getting the same outcome. As an addiction counsellor, I can help you to gain control, build confidence and understanding, so you can start living the life you want. Addiction is usually a distraction from the root cause making you need an escape. Understanding what’s underneath your addiction gives you the awareness you need to help you change your behaviour.

Addiction counselling isn’t a one size fits all approach. What you can expect is an open, non-judgemental space in which you will gain understanding of your addiction or addictive behaviours and establish a way forward and out of addiction.
