T(his) Foolish Heart

Whenever I see you I always ask
How have your wife and kids been?
All other questions, all other dreams
I’m careful to keep hidden.
Last week I saw you shopping for food
You were taking the bread and bacon home.
You knew about my cabaret, said you’d come by someday
Even if you had to come alone…

This foolish heart doesn’t care, this foolish heart doesn’t know…. this foolish heart… Beware, beware, beware!

My friend Jane says stay away
Don’t you dare get close, he’s a married man.
I said haven’t you noticed Love comes and goes
People fall apart and then they fall again…

This foolish heart doesn’t care, this foolish heart doesn’t know…. this foolish heart… Beware, beware, beware!

Foolish, I’m so foolish…

Last night brought the end to this story…
We sat at that table, we shared red wine.
In between shows he said he was leaving
Getting out of town with someone I know
Now when’s he back I’ll have to ask
How have you and Jane been?
He’ll probably just laugh and say what about you Maja,
Aren’t you in love and isn’t it about time?

His foolish heart doesn’t know…. his foolish heart, does not care, his foolish heart yeah… …
Beware, beware, beware!
