Ann Joiner joined the Office of the General Counsel in 2022 as associate general counsel. She provides counsel to the UT Martin campus on a broad range of legal matters, including student affairs, faculty and staff employment, policy, and contract/transactional matters.

Ann received a B.B.A., summa cum laude, from the University of Mississippi. She earned a J.D., magna cum laude, at the University of Mississippi School of Law, where she served on the Mississippi Law Review. After law school, Joiner practiced law with Burr & Forman LLP and Bradley Arant Boult Cummings LLP, both in Birmingham, Alabama, were she represented insurance companies and financial services institutions in federal and state lawsuits across the Southeastern United States. She subsequently served as corporate counsel for Birmingham-based bank BBVA USA, which was acquired by PNC Bank, National Association, where her primary responsibilities included contract review and negotiation and responding to consumer information disclosure events.
