Ok, so first things first, why did I name it Oatmeal Thankfulness?
You know that expression: “Nothing sticks to your ribs like a good bowl of oatmeal”? It’s that expression that reminds me so much of what it’s like to be thankful in hard things. How being thankful warms us from the inside and sustains us even to the next thing.
And honestly, I don’t really enjoy eating oatmeal. So I’ve had to learn to appreciate it for its benefits. Just like I’ve had to learn to appreciate the hard things in life for what I can learn from and through them, especially by being willing to be thankful in them.
So, what is Oatmeal Thankfulness?
Oatmeal Thankfulness is a free, 7 day email devotion written as an encouragement for you, me – all of us really – to choose to see ways to be thankful in the middle of hard things and then to see how that grows in us.
How does this devotion work?
This devotion was written and designed to take a few minutes every day. As a mom with three little people running around, I know that sometimes all I have is a few minutes to read something or I may not get back to it. This devotion was designed with that thought in mind.
Each day’s devotion will be delivered to your email inbox in the morning. It includes a short story or thought, a scripture passage, and a prayer.
When the week is over, you’ll find a resource page where you can check out some “next steps” on ideas for growing thankfulness.
