Als Fortsetzung unserer ‚Once around the World Cruise‘.
Time will show 🤔😊
Everything has an end …
As already mentioned, the itinerary on the second half, on the Pacific side, was changed at relatively short notice and even shortened. The reasons for this were not entirely clear to anyone … But that can happen and RSSC was generous with additional on-board credit (which is not very helpful as it is all-inclusive anyway) and a discount on the next booking (extremely welcome!). So the ports in Corinto (Nicaragua), Acapulco, Cabo San Luca and Ensenada (Mexico) were cancelled and we reached Los Angeles with a day’s head start on the march table … which we half-filled with a round trip to downtown LA. That was enough for us, because such tours are not that exciting and for me the journey somehow ends when I leave the ship. We weren’t bored on the extra days at sea either, so a few hours ago we were told to ‚disembark‘ 😥
A little too little time for an additional sightseeing tour and a little too much time to hang around the super-lousy Terminal B in LAX … But time to finalise my blog.
Vreni and I had booked this stage a year ago. As a continuation of our ‚Once around the World Cruise‘. The destinations along the way (apart from the Panama Canal) were not so important to us. There are more interesting things to see in other areas. And then things turned out differently than planned …
I didn’t really know whether I should cancel the booking. Then I came to the conclusion that Vreni would have wanted me to go anyway. But I didn’t want to go alone and asked Markus, who accepted my invitation without hesitation and so we spent more time together as brothers than we had in 50 years! I enjoyed every minute on this brand-new, beautiful SS Grandeur with her fantastic crew despite the change of programme and am grateful to have been able to experience this trip. Many wonderful experiences and encounters will remain in my memory.
Only time will tell whether the two ends of the thread will come together. The aim is to connect the American (North or South) Pacific coast with Tahiti in French Polinesia. This means a lot of days at sea and is therefore rarely offered … Time will show 🤔😊
It’s time to say goodbye, my flight via London to Milan leaves a little earlier than the one with Markus, who will also be flying via London to Zurich.
