August 30, 2009The Bay via The Slope via The Lake?
August 11, 2009We’re moving! Physically and virtually, that is. We’re leaving Brooklyn and headed to San Francisco in a couple weeks due to a job offer. More to come on that….
Celeb Sighting – Foodie Edition
July 24, 2009The celeb: Jean-Georges Vongerichten
The sighting: I met my wife for lunch yesterday at Todd English’s Olives in Union Square yesterday. Afterwards, we decided to walk around the area and I saw Jean-Georges walking down B’way between 18th and 19th. Typically I wouldn’t recognize a chef unless he or she had a program on the Food Network, but Jean-Georges is a badass, plus he was wearing his chef jacket.

Celeb Sighting: San Fran Edition
July 16, 2009The celeb: Former NFL star (SF 49’er) Steve Young
The sighting: Late Monday night at SFO Airport. A full AA red-eye flight from SF to NYC was inexplicably and abruptly cancelled. Of course, there was little information given and when it was, it was poorly communicated. Steve, along with the other stranded passengers, was asking around as to what happened. He took off pretty quickly while the rest of us poor saps had to wait around for an hour or more to retrieve our luggage and get a hotel voucher for the night. I arrived at the hotel around 1:00am and ended up flying out the next day around 11:40am.
Dinner at The General Greene
July 5, 2009The other night we had dinner at The General Greene in Fort Greene, Brooklyn. Here’s their official website.
The restaurant is spacious and inviting and the selection of American small plate dishes were tasty.
We tried the bacon dates, lamb and cucumber salad (arugula, goat cheese, beans and dill yogurt), peekytoe crabcakes (with spicy coleslaw and herbs), grilled steak (with smoked garlic and parsley) and mashed potatoes (with blue cheese butter).
My wife washed it down with some sangria while I had the green lemonade (vodka, lemonade, mint, cucumber) and the sunblock hefeweizen (from captain lawrence brewing company in pleasantville, ny).
We finished the meal with some dessert – a rhubarb crisp.
Frenchiepalooza at Prospect Park
July 5, 2009Yesterday, we met a few other French Bulldogs (including a puppy, another pied french bulldog, a couple fawn ones, plus a special appearance by neighborhood frenchie legend “Jean-Claude”).
On the way out of the Park, we also came across this dog, who was chillin’ in the mud.
