Our final full day in Maine was a great one. We arrived back in Portland in order to catch our flight home the following morning. The hotel was near the airport; the road leading to the terminal was lined with full sized metal sculptures of local fauna.
Next we paid a visit to the Portland Museum of Art. We especially liked a special exhibition of the Photorealistic paintings of Richard Estes (no photos allowed in the Estes exhibition hall.) His urban paintings often include reflections in windows and other shiny surfaces. This inspired me to shoot this:
This painting (not an Estes) was one of my favorites. Looks like a scene I would photograph, which probably explains it.
Windows were covered by a mesh to protect the art from the sun. Here’s a street scene shot thru the mesh:
The grand finale was a sunset cruise aboard the schooner Bagheera. Here she is, waiting for us to board.
This was our perspective as we watched the world go by
I enjoyed the contrast between the old fortification and the sailboat in this photo
And here’s a shot of the sun setting on beautiful downtown Portland, Maine.
