Blossom

Blossom: the action of opening, swelling or inflating on contact with the powers of water, breath and sun, together or in any combination. A thing that has been opened by this action is said to be a blossom, or in its shortened, dialect form, a bloom. When the power has left it, it is said to be blown, and its petals catch the departing breath and, with no stalk to hold them up any longer into the lightness of the sun, fall.

The lilies on the grassland hills between the mountains bloom after the April heat.
