A blatant appeal to nostalgia. Does anyone remember Tuf shoes?

I don’t remember Tuf shoes but I’m old enough to remember a time when you brought sneakers to wear in gym class and wore regular shoes the rest of the day. Hard to imagine that now.

I don’t remember Tuf shoes either.
We weren’t allowed anything as fancy as sneakers, we had to wear those black slip-on gym plimsolls for PE. Yuck.

This is quite interesting: http://www.fightingcobbler.co.uk/fc5.htm Apparently Tuf shoes played a big part in the near demise of shoe repair businesses in the late 60s.

I guess they would have done, it’s not something you necessarily think about, is it? Thanks for the link! And yes, I had those horrible plimsolls too, along with the airtex polo shirt and gym knickers! No wonder I hated PE…

The Tuf shoes for boys had a ‘secret’ direction compass in the heel (I think) which if you ever lost your way home, you could take off your shoe and ……..erm.
It was one of those things you just had to have in the one upmanship stakes, but heaven knows why now?
