  1. The Rams beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 30-27 and will face the San Francisco 49ers Sunday at SoFi Stadium in the NFC Championship game. 
  2. The 49ers beat the Green Bay Packers 13-10 to advance to the NFC Championship game. 
  3. AFC Divisional Playoffs: Cincinnati Bengals 19 Tennessee Titans 16; Kansas City Chiefs 42 Buffalo Bills 36 OT. Sunday: Cincinnati at Kansas City, AFC Championship. 
  4. Pittsburgh Steelers DC Keith Butler announced he is retiring. Butler has been with the Steelers organization for 19 years and has served as the DC for the last seven years. 
  5. Former Hawai’i quarterback Timmy Chang was named the new head coach of the Rainbow Warriors. 
  6. Former Oregon running back Travis Dye, who rushed for 1,276 yards and 16 touchdowns last year, transferred to USC. 
  7. Boys Basketball: La Canada beat South Pasadena 50-49 Friday night to improve to 3-0 in the Rio Hondo League and 13-5 overall. 
  8. The Baltimore Ravens fired DC Wink Martindale with one year remaining on his contract. 
  9. The Lakers lost to the Miami Heat 113-107 Sunday to fall to 23-24 on the season. 
  10. On this day in 1982 the San Francisco 49ers beat the Cincinnati Bengals 26-21 in Super Bowl XVI at Pontiac Silverdome in Detroit. 49er quarterback Joe Montana was named MVP.

    The Riley effect at USC is astounding. Can there be any doubt that the Trojans will be a force to be reckoned with in this man’s first season?
