@T Peterson, what made you send that tweet about Workman, something you saw in them or something you heard? They may surprise, but I heard numbers are really low. Very happy Spathias took over, or those kids wouldn’t have had a season.

Any word on who took the Duarte job?
From T. Peterson: Former Whittier Christian head coach Sergio Gradilla is now the HC at Duarte.

We threw against Workman three weeks in a row this summer. The first week we saw them they looked like they were in terrible. The next we saw a great amount of improvement. The third time we saw them the looked ready to compete. Watch out for this team, not a big roster but if they stay healthy they can make some noise.

No of course it doesn’t matter where they play at in JAA but what does matter is a grown mans reaction to his kid losing a job and mopping about.

    @ Uncle CoCo

I had the pleasure of coaching these kids in youth baseball and football growing up, R.J Arnold(UNLV baseball), Bryce Mcbride( Delta state football D2), Shane Fraijo ( Cal Poly Baseball D2, Oscar Robles ( Chowan Univ D2 football), Richie Pedroza ( Cal State Fullerton baseball) , Cameron Dean ( Northern Colorado 1aa football), Chris Wilson ( Wake Forrest 1A baseball), Chris Allen ( CS Northridge 1A baseball) and all those kids were great in both sports. When it comes to Robles I honestly thought he was better baseball player than football. I remember having to catch a bull pen of Robles, Wilson, and Arnold one day after practice and I’ll tell you all 3 threw gas! Case in point I enjoyed watching these kids grow up in HS and hearing about their adventures in college. I coached on that bruin JAA team we had Cameron at WR (D1qb shows how much we knew at the time) Shane was our qb and Oscar was our RB go figure. I don’t think it really matters what they play growing up real athletes eventually come out from the fold in sports.

Has everyone forgotten to give credit where it’s due? The newly-formed 605 league is currently the gold standard of low-level, and until somebody nudges the teams of that group into flat-out non-participation, that’s what they will remain.

Here’s goes Captain again. I hope he’s from Bosco or Mater Dei with this nonsense he talks. Everyone sucks in his opinion. Just remember, there’s levels to this… each team should be judged according to its level. Captain Sounds like a dude who never strapped up in my opinion.

    Anonymous,
You know who made great young coach post right? It’s his dad. He’s been the helicopter pops since the bruins days. Showed his true colors when his kid lost the starting QB Job Jr midget season.

@WWAD, You took the words out of my mouth!!!! Let’s give these football players a huge round of applause. We witness the true spirit of the game, when lower level teams perform. Not to disparage the well named school.

Too right. Not everyone can be Mater Dei or Centennial. Or even Charter Oak or Arroyo. And there is nothing wrong with that. Too many people seem to think that low level football is worthless, or even an embarrassment. Unless you are in that tiny minority that winds up playing on Saturday, by the time you are 19, it doesn’t really matter where you played football, but the fact THAT you played football (even for the worse Montview League team) can still be a meaningful experience that pays real benefits.

We are the big favorites in league. We got the advantage in student body, the biggest in the league and almost double of any other school. We have the best youngest coach around. We are the best high school in the state, our principal said so. Hands down league champs and should be cif champs. Azusa might give us a game, but we should still win by 4tds, but everybody else will be running clock, take that to the bank.

you said it captain. It was rated 2nd to last in all the leagues with every team at a neg 22 or worse up to neg 54 except nogales at a neg 2 ish. But it’s what they have and I’m sure the games are fun for those kids who are at those schools. Good luck and enjoy the season boys.

It’s not a stretch to say that many eyes will be watching the Lobos this season as they begin the Spathias era. Much good luck to this group: play hard and enjoy the game.
