  1. Brooks Koepka becomes the seventh golfer to win back-to-back US Open Championships. The last was Curtis Strange who did it in 1988-89.
  2. Mexico shocks defending Champion Germany 1-0 in first round of World Cup Pool play.
  3. The Dodgers have won 7 of 10 including a stretch of five straight to pull to within 1.5 games of the Diamondbacks.
  1. Barry Trotz tendered his resignation as the Washington Capitals head coach after leading them to the first Stanley Cup title in team history.
  2. Matt Kemp continues to lead the NL in hitting with a .338 average.
  3. Former San Diego Charger Antonio Gates and former Buffalo Bill Bruce Smith share a birthday today. Gates #38 and Smith #55.
  4. At halftime in their game on September 23, the Vikings will induct former head coach the late Dennis Green into the Ring of Honor.
  5. On this day in 1975 Fred Lynn collected 10 rbi’s in a 15-1 Red Sox win over the Tigers. In the game Lynn hit three home runs, a triple and an infield single.
  6. If he doesn’t miss any games before then, the Angels Mike Trout will play in his 1,000 career game Thursday night.

I wasn’t a home run hitter per se, but I had power, and if I got into a groove, I could hit ‘em out. It was a magical night. Nobody has these kind of games.
