Eric Scott

Scott, who previously served as head coach at Compton Centennial and played his high school football at Crenshaw, was announced as the Pasadena Bulldogs new head football coach yesterday the L.A. Times’ Eric Sondheimer reported.

Out of football last year, Scott replaces Randy Horton resigned as head coach at the conclusion of the 2012 season. In three years the Bulldogs went 11-21 under Horton, thanks in large part to the presence of quarterback Brandon Cox. With Cox injured for the bulk of the year PHS struggled and finished 1-9.

Scott was an assistant under Karl Dorrell and became head coach at Compton Centennial in 2008. The Apaches went 1-9 in Scott’s first season, but followed it with a 7-4 record in 2009 and a Pioneer League title. He’s 37 years old and was recruited to play college football by Ivy League schools Yale and Harvard. He settled on Northwestern, but transfered to UCLA after his freshman season.
