Ways to Help Victims of the Haitian Earthquake
1January 13, 2010 by Daniel Stack
As almost everyone reading this is aware, Haiti has just been hit by a devastating earthquake, with a death toll possibly above 100,000 people. With Haiti’s poverty, the people of Haiti will desperately need the help of various aid agencies and the international community. If you’re able to help, I’d encourage you to do so. The Huffington Post has a list of aid agencies. Salon.com has a similar list.
Some of the most obvious include:
- American Red Cross (their International Response Fund handles disasters like this one)
- UNICEF
- Doctors Without Borders
- Catholic Relief Services
Beyond the initial disaster there will be months and years of rebuilding, the need for medical assistance, epidemic prevention, clean water, housing, etc. If you can, do something to help. Please.
